On this day sisters of all ages tie a talisman, or amulet, called the Rakhi around the wrists of their brothers, symbolically protecting them. In return, sisters receive gifts from their brothers. Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on the last day of the Hindu lunar Calendar month of Shraavana, which generally falls in the month of August.
On this day every sister performs Aarti of their every brother irrespective of their age. Since this is a special day in the life of every brother and sister. This day cannot be replaced by any other day.
