Guru Nanak Jayanti: Festivals are an integral part of human life. Festivals provide us the message of victory of good, faith, and trust over evil.


Festivals are very important to preserve and exhibit the culture, tradition, custom, and heritage in-front of this world. The Festivals are the way to move from darkness towards light.

However, festivals bring new blossoms to the life of human beings. Since it is an important event that fills the life of a human being full of joy, happiness, and excitement.


Guru Nanak Jayanti is an important festival for people who follow Sikhism Religion. It will be commencing on 19th November 2021. Also, Sikhism is the fourth largest religion in India.

Sikhism contributes to 1.7% of the Indian population. However, The festivities in the Sikh religion revolves around the anniversaries of the 10 Sikh Gurus.

History and Significance:

It is a festival to mark the birth of Guru Nanak, founder of the Sikh religion. Also, on this day there will be a holiday in India. Guru Nanak Jayanti is also in Pakistan, Bangladesh, the United Kingdom, and many other countries.

Sikh Gurus gave a befitting reply to the Mughal Emperors, and their royal ministers against their atrocities, and their harsh rules and regulations.

Sikh Guru GuruGobindSaheb, his followers, and his sons put up a tough fight against the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.


Guru Nanak was born on 15th April 1469, in RaiBhoi Ki Talwandi, Delhi. He was born to Mehta Kalu and Mata Tripta. And his spouses is Mata Sulakhani, Sri Chand, and Lakhmi Das was his children’s.

Guru Nanak is the founder of the Sikh religion; he is the first Sikh Guru. Guru Nanak has a special place in the heart of every person of the Sikh Community.

According to believers, Guru Nanak had traveled all over Asia, teaching people the message of IkOnkar (one god). However, Guru Nanak came up with a new concept. Since he set-up a new social, spiritual, and political platform based on equality, fraternal love, goodness, and virtue.

The Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak did not make any difference between people, he opened his newly founded religion for everyone, irrespective of their age, caste, religion, gender, social status, and other things.

Guru Nanak spent his entire life preaching his teachings all over Asia. He was a truly spiritual person. Also, he did not make any difference between any human being. Guru Nanak died on 22nd September 1539 in Kartarpur, Mughal Empire (present-day Pakistan).

Celebrations of Guru Nanak Jayanti:

Guru Nanak Jayanti is a festival of great joy and excitement in India. On this day people visit the Gurudwara. They sing hymns, offer prayers, and sweets as to joy their joy.

Hymns that are sung in the Gurudwara are different for each Sikh Guru. The celebrations usually commence with PrabhatPheris. Also, PrabhatPheris are early morning processions that begin at the Gurudwaras and proceed around the localities singing hymns.

It is usually commenced just 2 days before the actual celebration of the birthday of Guru Nanak. During the celebrations of Guru Nanak Jayanti, night prayer sessions are held in many Gurudwaras all over the country.

There is a large Sikh Community that resides outside of India. However, mainly in countries like Canada, the USA, the United Kingdom, France, and many other popular countries that have high living standards.

This Large Sikh Community is celebrating Guru Nanak Jayanti with great joy and excitement. however, there will be get-togethers, parties, visiting the Gurudwaras, performing prayers, singing hymns, and many other things.


The Sikh Religion or Community is the fourth largest religion in the country. Since, Sikhs are always known for their joyful nature, their bravery, their love, and the feeling of sacrificing everything for their motherland. Sikhs are also known for their great valor in many wars that India had fought.

Finally, Guru Nanak, the first Guru of the Sikh Religion has a very special place in heart of every human being. He is irreplaceable because of his great work. Also contributions towards this amazing and magnificent world.
