Good Friday: In 2021 this will be observed all over the world on Friday, 2nd April. It is a festival that is celebrated by the people who follow the Christianity Religion. This day marks and is commemorate the Crucifixion of Jesus.

Festivals bring joy and happiness to the life of human beings. It fills colors in our lives. It brings episodes of excitement to our life. Festivals are loved by everyone irrespective of their age group.

Festivals are important to bind people close to each other. They are celebrated to spread positivity all over the world, whereas some days or festivals in every religion are observed to mark the unlawful wars and atrocities that occurred on them.

In Islam, Religion Muharram is the festival that is observed to mark the Battle of Karbala and the supreme sacrifice of Imam Hussain (r.a.). Also in the Jewish religion, Yom Hashoah is the festival that is observed to remember the Jewish Holocaust.

In the Christianity Religion, Good Friday is the day that is celebrated to mark the crucifixion of Jesus. Every religion has these kinds of days that are celebrated as festivals. They are also important to remember the history and origin of one religion. These festivals are marked with the grief sorrow of the people or an individual on whom the atrocities are performed.

Christianity:

It is an Abrahamic monotheistic religion. Christianity is a religion that is based on the teachings and preaching of Jesus. In present times Christianity is the largest religion followed in this world.

Jesus is considered as the Messiah by billions of the people who follow the Christianity Religion. The people who follow Christianity are called Christians all over the world.

The major practices in the religion remain the same, although there is a lot of diversification in both the western and eastern branches of the religion. There are 3 main branches in Christianity and they are Catholic, Protestant, and Eastern Orthodox. These branches are the result of the Reformation that occurred in the 16th Century in the Europe Continent.

Currently, there are 2.382 billion people who follow Christianity, making it the top religion that is being followed in the world, with an overall 31.11%. The second most followed religion is Islam with currently 1.907 billion followers and had the 24.9% population of the world.

Christianity believes in the trinity. It is believed that the god is in 3 forms.

Jesus:

Jesus is the most important deity in the Christianity Religion. He was born to Mary and Joseph in the Roman Empire. Also, he is widely known as Jesus of Nazareth or Jesus Christ.

He is the one whose teachings are followed in Christianity. Bible is the holiest book in Christianity. Jesus is a respected figure in the Islam religion. He is considered as the Messiah or the Prophet who was sent by Allah to guide the Children of Israel with a holy book Injil.

Jesus is mentioned in 93 Verses over 187 times in the holy Quran. We cannot ignore or deny the importance of Jesus in the Islam Religion. But Islam rejects the claim that Jesus is a god, Incarnation of God, or the Son of God.

In Islam, it is believed that Jesus will return to earth to fight the Dajjal (False Prophet) and he will establish peace on earth once again. In Christianity it is believed that Jesus was crucified on the cross, thus Good Friday is marked to remember this day.

Celebration of Good Friday:

Good Friday is also known by various names. It is also called Holy Friday, Great Friday, Black Friday, and others.

People from Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Lutheran, Anglican, Methodist, Oriental Orthodox, and others celebrate Good Friday by observing the fast, visiting the Church, performing various activities, tasks, and duties in the church.

People do spiritual things, wear some traditional attire, pray to god, clean gravestones, donate various things, and other good things.

In many branches of Christianity including the Byzantine Christians an adult person should observe a strict fast on this day. He should not have any food. In many European and American states, this holy day has been declared a National Holiday.

In some European Countries, activities like mass gathering, dancing, horse riding, and few others are completely prohibited on this day.

All these days are very important as it creates difficulties for a person to forget his or her roots. Islam and Christianity may have different opinions about Jesus, his birth, his death, or any other event but in both religions, Jesus is an important Personality.

In Christianity, he is the central figure, whereas in Islam he is a Prophet, his importance in both religions cannot be ignored or denied.
