History and Origin of Durga Puja:

Goddess Durga is an important and ancient Hindu Deity. The term Durga is can been seen in many ancient Hindu manuscripts. She is one of the most powerful Goddesses of this Universe.

Goddess Durga often signifies as the goddess of war, strength, and protection. She is widely known for the destruction of the evil that takes birth on this planet. Goddess Durga had killed many demons and auras who were undefeatable by any other god.

It is believed that the Lion is the vehicle of the goddess. In many places, Goddess Durga is being mounted on the tiger too. Goddess Durga can be seen as defeating the demon king Mahishasur in many idols. Goddess Durga is a form of Goddess Parvati. She takes the form of Goddess Durga for the liberation of the oppressed from evil.

There are many versions of Ramayana all differ in some or the other way. In the northern and southern versions that are available in the country, Lord Rama can be seen worshipping the Sun god. Whereas in the western version of Ramayana, Lord Rama is worshipping Goddess Durga.

Celebrations of the Durga Puja:

Durga Puja is a popular Hindu Festival. It is widely popular in West Bengal. It is also an important state festival of West Bengal.

During this festival, you can witness the idols of Goddess Durga in many places, along with the Pendals, Mantapas, and other arrangements. Many rich families of the state conduct the puja ceremonies of the goddess openly. They allow all the public to participate in the Puja.

 After the puja, they will distribute food, clothes, Prasad, and many other things. In many places, even before the festival many youths collect and raise funds for the preparation of the festival.

In celebration pattern, themes of the idols, Mantapas, types of materials used, folk cultures, and many more things. The themes are predominantly used in recent times.

These various themes may contain sex work, folk culture, a celebration of humanity, celebration of cinema, womanhood, pro-environment theme, marginalization of queer and transgender persons, political events like the Balakot Strike,and the protest against the National Register of Citizens of India, and many others.

During the celebration of the Durga Puja, you can easily observe and hear the voice of Hymns, Bhajans, devotional songs, Mantras, Shlokas, and many other things.

All these practices and rituals somehow increase, the sense of spirituality, devotional feelings, and it also helps us to bind our-self to the religion. Many Indian Bollywood and political personalities give a visit to some of these various Pendals during the celebration of Durga Puja.

Durga Puja is also very popular in the entire country. On this occasion, people wear their traditional attire. Women will generally wear a sari, and men will wear their traditional outfits.
