Baisakhi- A Popular Festival in India: Baisakhi is an important festival for the people who follow the Sikh Religion. The Sikh religion is the fourth largest religion in India. Currently, there are 20.8 million Sikhs in the country.
However, according to a survey, most Sikhs approximately about 77% of Sikhs reside and the majority of them are in the state of Punjab.
Festivals gives a new dimension to the life of human beings. Festivals spread joy and happiness in the life of people.

Punjab is an Indian state that lies in the northern part of the subcontinent. It is a state that sees the most percentage of Sikh people. It accumulates a total of 77% of Sikh people.
Punjab state is bordered by Jammu and Kashmir, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Pakistan. Punjab state shares a large and long international boundary with Pakistan.
This State is the 20th largest state in the country. In Punjab, the Punjabi language is widely spoken. However other languages like Hindi and English are also popular.
Punjab is also special because of its 5 rivers and which are: Sutlej, Ravi, Beas, Chenab, and Jhelum rivers. Punjab plays an important role in the Agricultural sector of India. It holds a good place in the production of wheat, paddy, sugarcane, and many other crops.
Punjab state is also known for the establishment of the firm Sikh rule in the 19th Century. Punjabi people are also popular for their bravery and their volatile nature. People had shown their valor in many wars that India had fought and won.

HISTORY OF BHAISAKHI:
Vaisakhi is also pronounced as Baisakhi. However, Baisakhi is also a festival in many countries like the United Kingdom, Canada, and many European countries that have a large Sikh population.
Bhaisakhi is an annual festival that is celebrated in India. In 2021 Sikh community will be celebrating Baisakhi on 14th April on Wednesday. Historically Baisakhi had been a colorful and joyous festival.

Back in the history of the Mughal Empire youngest son of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, Aurangzeb seized the throne from his elder brother DaraShikoh and prisoned his father Shah Jahan.
He reimposed theJizya tax on the Hindus and issued a warning to Kashmiri Brahmins to convert or lose their life. Somehow this was the condition in the entire country.
Sikhs fought against this un-justice. They somehow managed to fight against the mighty Mughal Empire. Not just for themselves but also for the rights of people of other religions. Sikh Gurus played an important role in this struggle. Sikh Guru’s happily sacrificed everything including their lovedones in this struggle.
Celebrations of Baisakhi:
Baisakhi is a spring harvest festival. It marks the beginning of the new harvesting season in Punjab state, as well as in many states in India. Historically, this day marks and commemorates the formation of KhalsaPanth warriors under Guru Gobind Singh.
Khalsa group is a highly respected group in the entire Sikh community all over the world.
The importance of the Bhasakhi festival increased after the forceful persecution and execution of the Sikh Guru, Guru TeghBahadur. The Execution of the Sikh Guru did not benefit the Mughal Empire. But it somehow converted the Khalsa group into a military group, and the peaceful struggle converted into an armed struggle.
Both the groups Sikhs and the Mughals lost many lives and other resources too.
At present time on this day, you can enjoy the various processions, hymns, bhajans, and prayers sang in the Gurudwaras. The Sikh Community also arranges large food feast for people, without discriminating them based on their religion.
Many Sikh people will visit Gurudwara, and pray for the well-being of their loved ones. They also pray to have a successful year ahead.
Sikh people are known for their joyful nature. Punjab is a beautiful and magnificent state. That had preserved its hundreds of year’s history, but somehow it also has drug issues with its youth.
Festivals are celebrated to bring freshness and happiness to the life of human beings. However, in every religion, the main intention of celebrating festivals is to bring people close to each other.
Festivals are also needed to spread a social message to this human society. It is also necessary to keep the excitement and keep the morale high in the life of a human being.
Festival somehow also teaches us the importance of ethics and to live a life of discipline. It also teaches us to be kind towards needy people.
